MITA was pleased to work with Patriot High School staff Robert Green & Tony Martinez to design and implement a mini-masonry competition with the construction class.  The students had a limited amount of time to build a five-course wall and were judged on speed, accuracy, plumb, etc.  Mando Echeverria, owner of Masonry Solutions, and Oscar Bojorquez, Foreman with NuWay, Inc. joined us to serve as mentors and judges.  Oscar and Mando showed how it was to be done.  The students then had a chance to try it out before the competition started.  Once it kicked off, all hands were on deck with the students working as a team and input from their mentors.  It was a close competition with Team Mando edging out Team Oscar by 1 point (final score 178 to 179).  Fun was had by all with music, masonry and a lunchtime high school student audience.
