Job Summary

The purpose of the Technical Trainer is to perform under general supervision; to supervise and instruct students in assigned area of vocational training and career development; and to establish an orderly, safe and well-disciplined classroom learning environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of documented construction/building trade experience at the journeyman level or 4 years of experience at the technician level; One Year equal to 1000 hours
  • Possess a Journeyman credential or equivalent.

NCCER Curriculum

MITA will train you to teach the NCCER Curriculum that we utilize for our program. This is a 24 hour series of 10 workshops and presentation. Once completed you will become a certified craft instructor.  This training will qualify you to teach in a non-educational setting. If in a school setting, then a CTE Credential is required.

CTE Credential

Requirements for the preliminary credential are three years work experience, high school diploma or equivalent, a completed application/live scan and recommendation by a Commission-approved CTE program sponsor. An individual may teach in the program WHILE obtaining the educational requirements for the credential. This can be either on-line or in a class setting at an approved educational institution.

Compensation

  • Instructors are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester or quarterly basis contingent upon the needs of the program.
  • Instructors may work approximately 15 to 25 hours per week. Classes may be offered during the day, evening or on weekends depending on the availability of facilities and participants. They may be taught with high school students or adults (18 or over), depending on the program.
  • An approximate pay range can be from $35 to $50 per hour or higher, based on hiring entity.
